2 policemen killed in Faryab

MAIMANA (PAN insurgents attacked and killed two policemen manning a check-post in the Qaisar district of northwestern Faryab province, an official said on Thursday.

The overnight incident took place in Chashma Qazalso area, the district chief, Abdul Jamil Siddique, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He came hard on the police department for deploying only three policemen at the post, saying they had been unable to face a large number of insurgents.

The district administrative head also said a highway policeman had joined the Taliban. Tribal elder Ahmad Farhad, who confirmed both incidents, said the attackers also seized three Kalashnikovs and a machinegun from the post.
