SHARAN/GARDEZ (PAN): One insurgent was killed and three others were wounded when the roadside bomb they were planting exploded prematurely in southeastern Paktika province, an official said on Friday.
The incident happened in Mata Khan district late on Thursday, the provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Dawlat Khan Zadran, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
In the Zurmat district of neighbouring Paktia province, four militants were killed and nine others wounded in an early morning clash with police.
Paktia police chief Brig. Gen. Zalmai Oryakhel said three policemen were also injured in an attack on their checkpoint, sparking the hour-long gunbattle.
