GARDEZ (PAN): Five insurgents were killed in a clash and four policemen wounded in a bomb explosion in southeastern Paktia province on Monday, officials said.
A patrol vehicle struck roadside bomb in Gardez at 10.30am, injuring four policemen, the provincial police chief told Pajhwok Afghan News. Brig. Gen. Zalmai Oryakhel said one of the injured policemen was in critical condition.
Elsewhere in the province, five militants were killed in a predawn airstrike by NATO-led troops in Wazi Zadran district, said Col. Mohammad Zaman, the deputy police head.
