Women members of PCs gather in Kabul
The conference is being attended by female members of provincial councils, members of parliament, civil society activists and IDLG representatives.
IDLG Deputy Director Abdul Matin Bek told the audience: “It is a matter of happiness to see women playing their role in provincial councils and participating in the decision making process at central and local levels.”
A statement from the directorate quoted him as saying the IDLG remained committed to facilitating women’s participation in decisions on issues of national importance.
Parliamentarians and civil society members also addressed the conference, the first of its kind, involving female members of provincial councils from across the country.
