FAIZABAD (PAN): The mayor of northeastern Badakhshan province survived a roadside bomb attack that left four people dead, including his bodyguards, an official said on Tuesday.

Nazir Mohammad Niazi, the mayor and a former jihadi commander, came under attack on his way to Baharak district on Tuesday afternoon, the governor’s spokesman said.

Abdul Maroof Rasikh told Pajhwok Afghan News the official was wounded in the attack. Another ex-jihadi commander, whom Rasikh did not name, was also injured in the bombing.
