KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): The governor of northern Takhar province on Wednesday escaped unhurt in a roadside bombing in neighbouring Kunduz province, an official said.

Governor Abdul Latif Ibrahimi’s convoy struck the roadside bomb in the Charkhab area on the outskirts of Kunduz City around noon, police spokesman said.

Syed Sarwar Hussaini told Pajhwok Afghan News the governor, a brother of Wolesi Jirga Speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, escaped unhurt.

Kunduz police chief Abdul Hanan Agha Gul Qatghani said a police pick-up, following the governor’s vehicle, was partially damaged in the explosion.

The blast occurred when the governor was returning from a condolence ceremony for the Dasht-i-Archi district chief, who was assassinated in a suicide attack last week.
