Schoolteacher gunned down in Helmand
LASHKARGAH (PAN): Gunmen shot dead a school teacher and injured his friend in the Sangin district of southern Helmand province, an official said on Friday.
Sattar Khan, who taught at the Sarwan Kala primary school, was walking with a friend on Thursday when came under attack from armed men.
Khan was killed on the spot and his friend sustained bullet injuries, the governor’s spokesman, Omar Zwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He accused the Taliban of killing the teacher, but the insurgents have so far said nothing about the incident.
Earlier this year, three high schoolteachers were killed in an ambush by unknown gunmen in the Daulatabad district of northern Balkh province.
