KABUL leaders “not slaves”.

Addressing a gathering marking the 12th death anniversary of his former colleague, Ahmad Shah Massoud, in Kabul, Sayyaf said those trying to divide Afghanistan would be defeated.

The former Ittihadi-Islami leader said the Taliban were not Afghans, insisting the Taliban should not be invited to peace talks until they freed themselves from the slavery of their foreign masters.

Sayyaf said the Taliban defamed Islam by lashing women in public and executing them. “The Taliban beat women and think they are servants of Islam; in fact they are destructors of the religion.”

The lawmaker asked the government and the judiciary to show no mercy to criminals involved in killing innocent Afghans.

Speaking on the occasion, Wolesi Jirga Speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi said the Afghans could have a bright future if they voted a patriot person in the upcoming presidential elections.

While Senate chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar said the enemies of Afghanistan were out to destroy the country.

He asked people to vote for a person who was a true Afghan, a patriot and had leadership qualities.
