32 rebels held in Logar operation, Taliban deny
PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): An official on Tuesday said 32 insurgents had been detained and a huge quantity of explosives and arms seized during a week-long security operation in central Logar province, but the Taliban rejected the claim.
The operation involving Afghan forces targeted Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, Barak-i-Barak and Mohammad Agha districts, the governor’s spokesman, Din Mohammad Darwesh, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Several villages in the areas were cleared of insurgents during the operation that also resulted into the seizure of weapons, he said.
But the Taliban said their fighters continued to hold sway in the areas, calling the government’s claim as a false propaganda.
