4 dead, 20 missing in Badakhshan rockslide

FAIZABAD (PAN): An overnight mountain slide left four people dead and nearly 20 others missing in the Zebak district of northwestern Badakhshan province, an official said on Tuesday.

Nearly 34 houses were destroyed in the disaster that damaged crops over 50 acres of land in the district, said Mir Ahmad Shah, the town’s administrative head.

He added a 17-kilomer portion of a road was also destroyed by the rain-induced erosion that killed dozens of household animals.
