KABUL): President Hamid Karzai on Monday approved the appointment of Brig. Gen. Mohammad Zahir as Kabul police chief.
The appointment was made in line with a suggestion from the Interior Ministry and in view of Gen. Zahir’s good performance, the Cabinet Secretariat said.
Gen. Zahir, son of Ghulam Jilani, previously served as Kabul’s crime branch chief, a statement from the secretariat said.
The appointment comes after Interior Minister Omar Daudzai sacked five top officials, including deputy ministers of administration and logistics.
