KABUL): The acting interior minister on Friday denounced a deadly terrorist attack on police officials in northeastern Badakhshan province and ordered an investigation of the incident.
At least 18 Afghan policemen, returning from an operation against the militants, were killed on Wednesday when they were caught in an ambush in the remote province, bordering Pakistan’s northwestern valley of Chitral.
A statement from the ministry said the acting minister, Omar Daudzai, was deeply shocked by the killing of 18 policemen and injuries to 13 others in the terrorist attack in Warduj district.
A delegation including interior ministry officials had been tasked with probing all aspects of the assault and presenting its report to Daudzai at the earliest possible, the statement added.
