Couple among 3 shot dead in Kunduz

KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): Gunmen in two separate attacks killed a couple and an 18-yeaer-old student in northern Kunduz province, officials said Saturday.

A woman, who gave birth to a child in a hospital, was shot dead along with her spouse on their way back home by unknown assailants in the Imam Sahib district on Friday.

The district chief, Amanuddin Quraishi said, a second woman was injured in the incident. The injured and the newborn, who stayed unhurt, were shifted to Kunduz civil hospital.

There was no claim of responsibility for the incident, the reason behind which remains unclear.

On Saturday, an 18-year-old schoolboy was killed in a gun attack in Kunduz City. But police spokesman Syed Sarwar Hussaini said the student had not died, but seriously injured and was being treated in hospital.
