GARDEZ (PAN (HPC) does not have the strength to make the ongoing reconciliation process a success, the governor of southeastern Paktia province claimed on Monday.
Addressing a gathering arranged by the HPC provincial chapter, Governor Juma Khan Hamdard said peace would continue to elude Afghanistan did not lend their weight to the reconciliation drive.
But in the same breath, he told the meeting, attended by civil society representatives, tribal elders and a large number of residents, that the peace body had made some small achievements.
A large number of militants had surrendered in different parts of the country and many prisoners freed as a result of HPC efforts, he acknowledged, explaining the steps had failed to restore peace.
