JALALABAD (PAN): A member of the peace committee was wounded in a bomb explosion in eastern Nangarhar province on Thursday, the governor’s spokesman said.

Ahmad Zia Abdulzai told Pajhwok Afghan News that peace negotiator Mohammad Nabi Azimi, his spouse and driver were injured during the explosion in Batikot district.

Without commenting on their health condition, the gubernatorial spokesman said the injured had been evacuated to hospital.

A source in the Nangarhar Civil Hospital said the wounded individuals were in stable condition. They were still under medical treatment, he added.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing, but the government often blames Taliban for such attacks.
