MAIMANA (PAN): Gunmen broke into a house and shot dead five members of a family in the Khwaja Sabz Posh district of northern Faryab province, an official said on Wednesday.
The dead included Sufi Din Mohammad, his wife, two married daughters and a son, the district chief, Abdullah Masoomi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Police had detained three suspects in connection with the shooting spree that took place at 1:00am near the district centre.
The district chief said the motive behind the killings was yet to be ascertained, but a family dispute could be involved.
Mohammad’s son Mohammad Alam, who was injured in the attack, said: “First I saw two armed men entering our house late in the night, they attacked my father and mother before I could inform them about their entry.”
Alam said when he tried to flee, the gunmen shot him in the leg. They were six gunmen in total, who shot dead his five family members.
