KABUL): A police operational commander died in a road side explosion in the Wama district of the remote eastern province of Nuristan on Sunday, an official said.
Confirming the death of the operations department head at the police headquarters, the governor’s spokesman, Zahir Bahand, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident occurred at about 9am.
Momin Khan had gone home and insurgents had planted mines outside his residence, Bahand said. Momin Khan succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the blast.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing but the government often blames Taliban for such attacks.
