KABUL pilgrims from Kabul to the holy land as part of phase one.
Naeem Mahamoor, Manager Marketing stated: “Phase one went off well without a hitch. The operations were executed with Boeing 757 aircraft with a capacity of 216 passengers. A total of 48 flights were operated to carry the pilgrims. The last flight left Kabul on 7th of October. The deadline for transportation of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia was October 9.”
Overall, so far the hajj operations have gone on smoothly into Jeddah, he added. This year in response to the decision of the government of Saudi Arabia for bringing about a 20 percent reduction on worldwide pilgrim quota because of on-going expansion of Ka’abah in Mecca.
He said pilgrims were scheduled to return by Safi Airways from Jeddah to Kabul from 19th of October to 16th of November.
The Hajj is performed during a five-day period from the 8th through the 12th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month of the Muslim lunar calendar.
Mahamoor said Safi Airways was committed in maintaining uncompromising international safety standards.
“Safi Airways is the first Afghan carrier to operate in compliance with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) requirements and is the first Afghan carrier to be in compliance with the strict International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) regulation,” he added.
