The returning players will be met by celebrations, including music and speeches, at the Kabul Cricket Stadium and a heroes’ welcome and an official reception at the airport, where their plane will land at 4pm, according to Afghanistan Cricket Board’s spokesman Farid Hotak.
A convoy involving hundreds of vehicles will proceed to the airport from the ACB’s main office for welcoming the cricketers, he told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A big gathering will take place at the cricket stadium, where ACB and government officials, lawmakers and hundreds of fans will be waiting the players’ arrival. The players will be straightly driven to the stadium soon after their arrival at the airport, Hotak said.
A week back when Afghanistan beat Kenya by seven wickets in the UAE, cheering crowds danced at drumbeat, waved national flags and drove cars at high-speed through the city.
The victory against earned Afghanistan a place in the 2015 WC to be held in Australia and New Zealand, where they are drawn in the same group —four-time champions Australia, New Zealand, England, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and one other qualifier.
