12 rebels dead in Nangarhar clash
JALALABAD (PAN): More then a dozen Taliban insurgents have been killed during an hours-long gun-battle with Afghan security forces in the Khogyani district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.
The governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash broke out on Saturday night after a group of militants attacked border police posts in the Sangyalai village of Wazir area.
He said national army and police reinforcements had reached the scene to assist the border police as a search operation went on in the area.
The Taliban said five border policemen were killed and four others injured in the attack that left four fighters injured.
