KABUL, the alliance said on Sunday.

In a brief statement, ISAF said the soldier died following an improvised explosive device strike in the country’s south.

The statement gave no further details about the fallen soldier’s nationality and exact location of the blast.

However, mostly US troops have been deployed to the southern region.

It was the eighth soldier to be killed this month, taking the death toll of international troops to 140 this year.

However, some reports put at 142 the number of foreign troops killed in Afghanistan this year.

June was the deadliest month for foreign troops when  27 service members were killed.
