First ever military academy inaugurated (Video)

KABUL (PAN): A first ever military academy has been inaugurated in a move to strengthen the capacity and enhance professionalism of Afghan National Army (ANA) officers, an official said on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference, Brig Gen. Mohammad Sharif Sharifi, a leading commander of the ANA academy in Kabul said the academy was funded by the Britain.

The military institute is a model of England’s Sundhurst Military Academy where 200 Afghan teachers and another 126 teachers from UK, Denmark, New Zealand and Australia have been assigned to train ANA officers, he added.

He said the first round of training was begun on Sept 23 of the current year where 10,000 ANA officers received training with 270 among them had been deployed, discharging their duties.

Duration of the training is one year, and after completion their training, the officers would be promoted to the rank of 2nd lieutenant, he noted.
