KABUL fighters, including a local commander, have been killed in an operation in central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Friday.
The overnight raid was conducted in the Sad Mardi area of Nirkh district, Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said a dreaded insurgent leader, Mullah Naeem, was among the dead. Another commander, Hameedullah, was detained with explosives and ammunitions.
With no immediate reaction from the Taliban, Khogyani said civilians and security forces were not harmed during the operation.
