MAIMANA (PAN, including two commanders, were killed on Saturday when the bomb they were making exploded prematurely in the Qaisar district of Faryab province, an official said.
Abdul Jamil Siddiqui, the Qaisar district head, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast happened in a house in Kakari village, killing seven insurgents, including commanders Mullah Ibrahim and Mullah Firoz.
Ahmad Fawad, an influential resident of the locality, said there was no one else in the house except Taliban. He added the village was under rebel control. Six other Taliban were injured in the incident.
Brigadier General Nabi Jan Mullahkhel, the provincial police chief, said two militants were killed following an attack on a check-post in Almar district. Four civilians were also injured in the attack.
A local official, who did not want to be named, said the Taliban attacked an armoured vehicle, killing one security man in the Dewana Khan village of the district. A young man was killed and his wife injured during the ensuing exchange of fire.
