FARAH CITY (PAN) was killed and three Afghan Local Police (ALP) members were wounded in a blast in the Pusht Rod district of western Farah province, an official said on Saturday.

The incident took place late on Friday when ALP members tried to defuse the bomb placed under a bridge in Shahr-I-Kohna.

Ghausuddin, the Pusht Rood district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the bomb went off, killing the Imam and wounding three ALP members. The prayer leader and ALP members were on their way to the district centre.

The injured were taken to Farah Civil Hospital for treatment. Dr. Abdul Hakim Rassouli confirmed receiving the Imam’s body and two wounded ALP members. One of the policemen is in critical condition.
