KABUL): A seven-year-old girl was killed and five Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were injured during an explosion in Kabul on Sunday morning, an official said.
The blast took place when an ANA vehicle was passing through the Arzan Qimat locality of the central capital, police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the explosives, placed in a jerry can, went off killing the girl and wounding five soldiers. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
As usual, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast, with their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid saying six army officers were killed when the bus carrying defence ministry staff hit the explosives.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed the blast, saying the injured were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. However, the ministry gave no further details.
