Alleged suicide bomber held in Kandahar
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) in a statement said the would-be suicide bomber, Rahmatullah, had received training in Pakistan’s lawless tribal region of Waziristan near the Afghanistan border.
It alleged the detainee wanted to target senior government officials in Kandahar, but he was arrested before reaching his target.
The NDS statement said Rahmatullah had confessed to receiving orders from a Taliban Quetta Council member, Wardak, to carry out a suicide attack in Kandahar.
