Danish Minister for Development Cooperation Christian Friis Bach held out the promise at a meeting with Minister of Finance Dr. Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal in the latter’s office on Sunday. They discussed the upcoming election, security, education, good governance and economic growth
The Danish minister expressed his country’s 2014 plan for curbing corruption, boosting financial stability, economic growth and good governance in Afghanistan, a statement from the ministry said.
Bach praised the progress the Afghan government has made toward transparency and accountability, as indicated in a recent World Bank report. He also supported the April 5 presidential and provincial council election.
Denmark has given Afghanistan $605 million in development aid since 2002. It also made a pledge of $440 million at the Tokyo Conference, offering $88 million annually in development and humanitarian assistance until 2017.
