KABUL): The spy service said on Monday a militant group had renounced violence and joined the peace process in central Kabul province.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said in a statement the 10-member group had been active against the government in Sarobi district.
It added the reconciled individuals had promised using all their abilities to improve security in their areas. The NDS claimed security incidents had decreased in Sarobi as a result of the surrender.
More than 7,000 militants have so far joined the peace process since the High Peace Council (HPC) was established in 2010.
These individuals have been tasked with convincing their former comrades to join the peace campaign in their respective areas.
