KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): Police on Tuesday claimed rescuing a son of Kunduz jeweller association’s head and arresting three people in connection with the kidnap incident.

Brig. Gen. Mustafa Mohseni, the Kunduz police chief, told a news conference the child named Ilham was kidnapped in the third police of Kunduz City a day earlier.

He said security forces managed to recover the boy — a second year student — after 11 hours from a house in the Deh Wiran village of Khanabad district.

Police spokesman Sayed Sarwar Hussaini said three people had been detained on suspicion of involvement in kidnapping the boy. Efforts are ongoing to trace the real perpetrators.

Ilham, who was reunited with his family at the police headquarters, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “As I left home, three masked men caught and bundled me into a waiting car.”

The boy said the kidnappers blindfolded him and he had no idea he was kept. However, Ilham explained he was not harassed during captivity.

His father Fair Muhammad Rustaqi he said neither he had enmity with anyone nor the kidnappers had contacted him. He believed ransom could have been the kidnappers’ motive.
