JALALABAD (PAN): A road connecting Mehtarlam with Qarghayee district was inaugurated in eastern Laghman province on Thursday, an official said.
The governor’s spokesman Sarhadi Zwak told Pajhwok Afghan News the road, also linking the provincial capital with Surkhakan, provided better transportation facilities for people.
Funded by the World Bank (WB) at a cost of 115 million afghanis (nearly $1.90 million), the 14 kilometres road was constructed in a year, having 69 bridges and 643 metre retaining wall.
Happy with the project execution, resident Sher Alam hoped the road would bring positive changes to their lives. He said they previously faced transportation problems.
