18 rebels perish in Zabul airstrikes
QALAT (PAN): Eighteen armed militants have been killed in airstrikes by foreign troops in the Arghandab district of southern Zabul province, security officials on Sunday.
District chief, Haji Muhammad Nasratyar, told Pajhwok Afghan News the raids took place in Korghan and Ashizai areas, killing of 18 fighters and injuring four others.
"ISAF Joint Command does not have any operational reports of a precision strike conducted on November 11, 2013, that may have killed 18 rebels." said Lt. Col. LaTondra A. Kinley, ISAF Joint Command, Press Desk Chief.
Although the Taliban have not yet commented on the airstrikes, their spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi claimed the insurgents had killed several policemen during a bomb attack on their pick-up in the Bagh area of the district.
But the Arghandab chief denied any explosion in this district.
