The issue was thoroughly discussed at a National Security Council (NSC) meeting, chaired by President Hamid Karzai, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.
During the meeting, Spanta updated participants on the discussions held so far on the Afghan-US agreement providing for America’s continued military presence in the country.
He added the draft had already been prepared in the national languages and would be distributed to participants of the Loya Jirga to enable them to better advise the government on whether or not it should sign the accord.
Rahmatullah Nabil, the acting spymaster, informed the meeting on the security measures taken for the jirga, which would take place later this month.
He said better coordination had been forged among different security institutions to deal effectively with possible security challenges.
