Ulema council deputy chief gunned down
Javed Faisal, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News Maulvi Mohammad was on his way to office when the gunmen on a motorbike opened fire at him, killing him on the spot.
The attackers managed to flee the scene, he said, adding police were conducting raids in the area to nab the culprits. Mohammad was also voluntarily working with Haj Affairs Council, Faisal added.
Separately, police shot dead a suspect in women’s dress in the 9th municipality district of Kandahar City -- the provincial capital. A pistol was recovered from the slain man.
