While attending the ceremony, the president prayed for the martyrs’ souls and paid tribute to the sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to bless his country with peace, security and unity among Afghans, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.
Yum-i-Ashur is a significant date in the Islamic calendar because of several important events that took place on this day, including the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 supporters in the battle of Karbala.
