Elders praise Zadran’s role in Paktika security
SHARAN (PAN): Representatives of different tribes on Friday voiced their support to the police chief for southeastern Paktika province, hailing his role in strengthening security.
Last week, some media reports claimed military equipment handed over to Afghan forces by foreign troops in Paktika had been sent willfully to Kabul by Brig. Gen. Dawlat Khan Zadran.
In response to the report, Zadran said he would appear before the Attorney General (AG) to answer the allegations levelled against him as soon as he returned from medical treatment in India.
At a meeting here today, tribal elder Shah Mohammad Katawazi praised the police chief for bringing security to Paktika and playing a key role in creating harmony among tribes.
“I’m shocked by the allegations levelled against Gen. Zadran. He has been instrumental in ending tribal biases, treating Zadran, Kharotai and Andar tribes equally.”
Nazar Mohammad, an elder from Khairkot area, also acknowledged restoration of peace in several districts where Afghan Local Police (ALP) contingents were deployed due to Zadran’s efforts.
Also present on the occasion, the deputy police chief, Miawar Khan, spurned the charges against his boss as groundless.
Mukhlis Afghan, the governor’s spokesman, said Gen. Zadran had returned from medical treatment in India. He would soon return to work, Afghan added.
