KABUL” that began in New Delhi on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul said.

Jointly organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) and Afghanistan Chamber and Commerce and Industries (ACCI), the show was inaugurated by Indian Foreign Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and Afghan Finance Minister Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal earlier in the day.

As many as 35 Afghan firms, taking part in the exhibition, have put on display products made in Afghanistan like carpets, hand-made goods, dried fruits, herbal medicines, Saffron and others.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Afghanistan’s products were warmly welcomed by visitors in New Delhi.

The “Doing Business with Afghanistan” is aimed at luring investment in the war-torn country. Senior Indian and Afghan officials and 250 businessmen representing 19 countries attended the inauguration ceremony.

Khurshid assured India’s $2 billion humanitarian aid pledge to Afghanistan was just the beginning of a process to reach out to the provinces and districts of the war-torn country.

Zakhilwal asserted his country would continue to remain stable beyond the US troop drawdown in 2014.

Khurshid urged Indian industrialists to grab the opportunities in the war-ravaged nation, currently going through a reconstruction process.
