Taliban kill health workers in Uruzgan

TIRINKOT (PAN department workers in the Choora district of central Uruzgan province, an official said on Friday.

Identified as Abdul Rauf and Hazratullah, the pair had gone missing while returning from a polio vaccination awareness campaign in the Khush Qadir area of the district on Thursday.

Abdullah Himmat, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the men’s bodies were found in Kalim Bawri area after they had gone missing on their way back from Khush Qadir village.  

Local security officials believed the militants had hanged the health workers to death. Both residents of the district, the men were in charge of the anti-polio campaign in Choora.
