KABUL, media reports said on Wednesday.

A Pakistani new

spaper, The Express Tribune, quoted an unnamed official an official as saying that releasing the Afghan militant leaders was an ongoing process aimed to facilitate reconciliation in the neighbouring country.

Mullah Abdul Ahad Jahangirwal, secretary to Mullah Omar during Taliban rule, Mullah Abdul Manan, an ex-governor of southern Helmand province, and Mullah Younas, a Taliban military official, were released

The fresh releases came a week after a High Peace Council delegation, led by its Chairman Salahuddin Rabbani, visited Pakistan. The peace negotiators met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the former Taliban deputy chief.
