Karzai condemns aid workers’ killing
KABUL/MAIMANA (PAN): President Hamid Karzai on Thursday condemned the killing of six aid workers in a gun attack in northern Afghanistan, calling it the handiwork of those out to destabilise the country.
The men were dragged from their car before being gunned down six kilometers from Maimana, the provincial capital, on their way to Almar district, police said.
A statement released from the Presidential Palace quoted President Karzai as strongly condemning the attack on the ACTED workers.
“Those who have been opposed to the country’s reconstruction, peace and development have been behind such killings,” Karzai said in the statement.
Meanwhile, Faryab Governor Mohammudullah Batash told Pajhwok Afghan News it was a terrorist attack and the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
