KABUL (PAN): Two people have died and five others sustained injuries in two separate accidents involving cars in central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Wednesday.

A car carrying a Sikh family collided head-on with another car in Sysi area of Syedabad district last night, killing the driver and a woman and injuring three others,  Governor Attaullah Khogyani said.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News the wounded were shifted to Syedabad civil hospital and the driver of the second car had been detained.

Elsewhere in the province, two people were wounded when a car overturned in Ghla Ghondai area of Narkh district.

Confirming the incident, Khogyani said the injured were said to be in stable condition. He linked both accidents to careless driving.
