Sergeant Alexander Blackman was handed down the sentence on Friday after found guilty of murdering the Taliban man last month while deployed in Helmand in September 2011, media reports said.
The military court acquitted two other marines of the killing. The three were charged after military authorities found footage of the incident on a helmet camera.
