$13.7m UNDP aid for Afghan justice, edu reforms

KABUL and justice ministries and the quality-control department, officials said.

An agreement to the effective was signed between United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Afghan officials in Kabul. They hoped the aid would help bring transparency and reforms in affairs of the said institutions.

UNDP officials said the project would bring positive changes in the government’s affairs, which would eventually improve capacity of civil servants.

Happy over the aid pledge, Education Minister Ghulam Farooq Wardak said the aid would be used to improve the quality of education in schools and other education institutes.

UNDP Afghanistan Director Mark Bowden said the assistance would help the ministries and the quality control department to reinforce vulnerable parts of their departments.

Bowden said employees of the mentioned government departments would be trained as part of the project to enable them to discharge their responsibilities in a proper manner and well in-time.
