KABUL has chosen former interior minister Ali Ahmad Jalali as its new leader with consensus on Monday, a statement issued by the Jirga said.
The statement received by the Pajhwok Afghan News, said Jalali had always extended his all out support to promote the cause of the Jirga who could play a highly significant role in improving the government system.
A source while quoting Jalali said: “Being a member or leader of Fikar aw Amal Jirga is a pride for me but successes cannot be achieved by a single person. We will all join hands to achieve targets.”
Clear goals, principals, and targets amid enough financial resources are required to promote a civil society organization successfully, he added.
The statement said Jalali and his members would support country’s elders and candidates with the available resources.
The Jirga has been playing a crucial short and long-term role in holding a series of discussions with jihadi commanders, politicians, religious scholars and civil society groups to make the elections process a success and transparent.
