2 detained for abetting Sitara’s husband

Dec 14, 2013 - 16:12

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Police have detained two people on suspicion of abetting a man who chopped off his wife’s nose and lips in the Injil district of western Herat province, an official said on Saturday.

“The 22-year-old victim, Sitara, a mother of four children, was ruthlessly beaten before her nose and lips were cut with a knife.” The Ministry of Interior spokesman said.

Siddique Siddiqui told a press conference in Kabul: “Sitara’s husband is a drug addict, who beat her when she refused to give him her jewellery.”

While police are looking for the main accused, two other individuals have been arrested for allegedly aiding Sitara’s husband.
