32 irrigation networks to be constructed
The World Bank-funded projects, to be executed in six months in 11 provinces, would benefit hundreds farmers, said Agriculture Minister Mohammad Asif Rahimi.
He added the projects would be implemented in Bamyan, Samangan, Kabul, Parwan, Nangarhar, Laghman, Lugar, Kunar, Kapisa, Herat and Balkh provinces. With the completion of the irrigation systems and those already executed, 40,000 acres of land would be irrigated.
Rahimi said his ministry had distributed some irrigation tools, including 675 pumps, which could take water 10 meters higher. He asked the contractors to pay attention to the quality of the work.
