2 Taliban among eight suspects held in Farah

2 Taliban among eight suspects held in Farah

Dec 20, 2013 - 11:22

FARAH CITY (PANinfo-icon): Police have detained eight suspected men, including two Talibaninfo-icon militants, in western Farah province, an official said Friday.

Javed Kargar, the police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the arrests came during a clearing operation by local security forces in the Dranj village of Khak-i-Safid district.

Rustam, a notorious Taliban commander, and his son Abdul Rahim were among the detainees, he said. Six others suspects had also been taken into custody.

However, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi said the security forces had detained a local farmer, not a militant commander, during the operation in the district.
