3 suspects held in boy gang-rape case

3 suspects held in boy gang-rape case

Dec 23, 2013 - 16:07

KUNDUZ CITY (PANinfo-icon): Police on Monday said they had arrested three men for allegedly gang-rapping a 15-year-old boy a day earlier in northeastern Kunduz province.

Crime branch chief, Col. Waisuddin Talash, told Pajhwok Afghan News the detainees took the boy to a home at gun-point in Kunduz City and gang-raped him on Sunday.

Police later launched an operation to arrest the rapists and detained the three suspects last night, he added.

The Afghanistaninfo-icon Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) in its annual report said 470 cases of child rape had been recorded this year, showing a 28 percent rise.

The report cited fewer arrests in connection with such cases as a key reason behind increasing sexual attacks against children.
