JALALABAD (PAN): Eight militants, including five group leaders, were killed during a security operation by Afghan commandos in eastern Laghman province on Friday, an official said.
Sarhadi Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the operation was conducted in Sharafuddin and Nazar Mohammad villages of Alishang district.
Khushal, Matin Syed Mohammad, Hijrat and Inam were killed along with three of their associates during the early morning offensive. Four rebels were caught alive, the spokesman said.
The local Taliban leaders were involved in making improvised explosive devices and attacking Afghan and foreign forces in the area, the official said. The ANA commandos suffered no casualties.
