KABUL tasted a 16-run defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in their Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Asia Cup match in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.
Batting first, Bangladesh were bowled out for 169 in the 46 over, but Afghanistan made a heavy weather of chasing what looked a modest total.
The Afghans were bundled out for 153 in the 49th over. Nasir Ahmadzai chipped in with 53 runs before running himself out and thereby dashing Afghanistan’s hopes.
A day earlier, Ziaur Rahman’s aggressive bowling spell and a magnificent 47-run knock by Shahidullah saw the national side cruising to victory over Sri Lanka in the 47th over.
